“So-Fire-Town Swing”

On 4 June 2009 the Thandi Foundation will be presenting the “So-Fire-Town Swing”. The foundation supports survivors of burns and other traumas, and runs a year long programme at different centres, using the expressive arts as a rehabilitative tool. The Thandi Foundation was founded primarily to provide an outlet for survivors of burns and other traumas, and people with disabilities, to experience the power of the various arts as a catalyst towards overcoming one’s fears, hurts and pain.

The Thandi Foundation’s vision and mission is “healing hands, hearts and voices” and we hope to achieve this by ultimately creating self help groups, for Burn Survivors and Persons living with Disability, that use the expressive arts to achieve a better quality of life The Thandi Foundation was started through a personal friendship with one of South Africa’s musical icons, Tandie Klaasen, herself a burn survivor who has achieved much in the world of music.

The Joburg Promusica Theatre has very kindly donated the use of the theatre for the organisations Orange Farm beneficiaries, “Youth on Fire”, to perform some of their items. There will be guest artists performing as well as well food stalls available. The evening promises to entertain all.
