Confed Cup showcases Joburg's best
As the leading host city
of the one of the world’s premier football
events on African continent, the City
of Johannesburg is wasting no time in
showcasing itself as a vital platform
for business opportunities in the future.
The City of Joburg is
not only showcasing its event hosting
capabilities by holding the 2009 FIFA
Confederations Cup, and Lions Tour, but
is also seizing the opportunity to promote
the country and the continent of Africa
as a viable, prime tourism, lifestyle
and investment destination.
Johannesburg Tourism
Company and World Legacy Ltd. are hosting
a premier hospitality and investment lounge
at the Ballroom, Sandton Convention Centre,
and the city is, throughout the duration
of the FIFA tournament, hosting overseas
investors and business people in a bid
to discuss various investment opportunities
with South African companies and government
departments, showcasing the best of African
hospitality, fashion, lifestyle and investment.
The centre is open to
all business people who would like the
opportunity to network, socialise, enjoy
live entertainment and provides a great
alternative for those who cannot make
it to the stadium, as there are over 60
plasma screens and 2 large screens to
watch the matches.
Lindiwe Mahlangu, CEO
of the Joburg Tourism Company comments:
“For a developing economy like ours, it
is absolutely essential to take advantage
of every opportunity to advance the course
of South Africa to the global markets.
The Confederations Cup is bigger than
just the football. It is a glorious opportunity
to really showcase what the continent
can offer the world while the spotlight
is shining on us.”
