“Celebrate Mzansi”
A celebration of Africa Music and Dance
To add to the experience of visiting South Africa during the 2010 Soccer World Cup – the producers of “Celebrate Mzansi” are providing visitors with a musical and dance/stage spectacular, which showcases some of the best music and performances to come out of Southern Africa over the past few decades.
Imagine a multi-dimensional high energy show with a live band, singer/narrators, and dancers/acrobats, who will present a selection of some of the most popular South African musical talent and dance culture in 2 x 45 minute stage sessions.
Celebrate Mzansi is designed to be a highly interactive show to entertain on all levels (a la Madame Zingara) by show casing and performing music from artists like Mango Groove, Johnny Clegg, Joy, Miriam Makeba, Lucky Dube, Clout, Radio Rats, Jonathan Butler, Dollar Brand, Rabbit, Lady Smith Black Mambazo etc.
From Mbaqanga to Rock n’ Roll, Kwaito to Crossover and Soul – this will probably be the most comprehensive showcase of Southern African music and dance to be staged to date.
The show will be hosted by various venues in Gauteng and around South Africa during the 2010 World Cup from early June to mid July, and tickets will be priced around R400 to R500 for an evening show and dinner depending on the venue.
This Mzansi showcase will be the ideal way to experience another side of Southern Africa in between Matches during the World Cup.
