THE MUSICALS unplugged
Angela Kilian and Robert Finlayson are two of South Africa's most celebrated and prolific Musical Theatre performers with a wealth of national and international experience. They have most recently starred in the lead roles in the critically acclaimed production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's ASPECTS OF LOVE at the Joburg's Nelson Mandela Theatre and Pieter Toerien's smash hit CATS at the TEATRO at Montecasino.
Angela grew up in Port Elizabeth and has played some of the most coveted female roles in musical theatre. Her favourites include: Hodel & Tzeitel in productions of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Maria in THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Fleur du Cap & Mercury Awards), Eva Peron in EVITA (Vita Award), Anna in THE KING AND I (Showtime Award), Eliza Doolittle in MY FAIR LADY (Naledi Award), Miss Dorothy Brown in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Cinderella in INTO THE WOODS (Fleur du Cap Award), Marilyn Monroe in MARILYN LIVE (Vita Award) Angela was part of the World Touring Company of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical CATS. She has also played the part of Babette in Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
Robert was born on a wine farm near Stellenbosch. He has performed in a diverse range of musicals and plays; from the classics playing Lysander in A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM, to the one-man play, THE NIGHT LARRY KRAMER KISSED ME (Vita Award) at The Market Theatre, to starring on London's West End as Nick in FAME, Chris in MISS SAIGON and Raoul in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. He played Brad in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW in Germany and more recently Judas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in South Africa, Greece and Korea (Fleur du Cap Award).
Both performers were part of Andrew Botha's opera extravaganza OPERAMANIA at the Joburg Theatre.
In this production Angela and Robert are accompanied by Wessel Odendaal on piano. Together they create an intimate mood, singing their most cherished songs and sharing anecdotes from their careers.
This is a wonderful opportunity to catch this trio of gifted performers who are at the very top of their 'game' and to see them up-close and 'unplugged'.
